Lawyer Profile:
For his undergraduate work, Mr. Tatone attended Rutgers University; he completed a major in philosophy with a minor in economics. After obtaining his Bachelor of Arts degree from Rutgers University, Mr. Tatone attended the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law. During law school, he continued to work as a law clerk for Bufalino & Palazzolo, P.C.
Upon graduation from law school in 1996, Mr. Tatone, passed the Michigan State Bar Examination and began his legal career as an associate attorney for Bufalino & Palazzolo, P.C. In February, 2003 he started his own practice, which he has actively pursued since that time.
John Tatone is an active member of several professional organizations including the following:State Bar of Michigan, Macomb County Bar Association, Oakland County Bar Association, Detroit Metropolitan Bar Association, Macomb County Probate Bar Association and the Institute of Continuing Legal Education.
John Tatone practices law mainly in the Tri-County area of Macomb, Oakland and Wayne counties located in southeastern Michigan, near Detroit. He has, however, litigated cases throughout Michigan including cases in the counties of Lapeer, St. Clair, Livingston, Manistee, Missaukee, Washtenaw, and Genesee. Mr. Tatone is admitted to practice in all state courts throughout the State of Michigan, as well as the U.S District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan in Detroit, Michigan. He has appealed adverse rulings by trial courts with successful results in the Michigan Court of Appeals and has argued for changes in the law before the Michigan Supreme Court.
Mr. Tatone routinely attends Continuing Legal Education courses and seminars. Unlike many “transactional” attorneys, who run and hide after a dispute arises regarding a will, trust, contract or some other document they have drafted, Mr. Tatone prides himself on his ability to “backup” the contents of the documents he drafts in Court by serving as an effective litigator, witness or mediator.
